Many people are searching for ways to learn more about social justice initiatives and stay current with relevant information. I have included the following links that might prove helpful:
National Public Radio offers a variety of programs that can be listened to online or as a podcast. Programs such as NPR Religion, Tell Me More, This I Believe, Story of the Day, and No Ordinary People are just a few programs I have found especially helpful.
Provoke Radio: http://www.provokeradio.com/
Vatican Radio is also an excellent resource that is available online or as a podcast.
The Canadian Catholic Television Station, Salt and Light Television offers several programs which can be viewed online such as “Witness” and “Catholic Focus.” There are also a number of DVD’s which can be ordered online.
Additional media resources can be found under the media links at the Basilian Fathers website. There, you will find the “Conversations with Macrina” podcast as well as a number of stories under Global Media.
There are, of course, many books on the a variety of subjects related to social justice, but one in particular that many people have recommended is A World Made New by Mary Ann Glendon. It is an excellent read about Eleanor Roosevelt and the drafting of the Declaration of Human Rights.
Lastly, do not forget about the many statements from Archbishop Migliore, Permanent Observer t the United Nations, about some of the most challenging issues facing our world today. They can be found here under “Interventions.”
Happy listening, viewing or reading.
