Bridges to Justice is one of the many results of a unique gathering of college students from across North America. For one week, this small but significant group of students were the guests of the Holy See Mission to the United Nations. There they listened and learned from some of the most influential people of the Catholic Church and the United Nations concerning ideas and issues of social justice.
However, this group of students was not invited simply to learn, but to learn and implement their new-found knowledge at their respective colleges and universities. This site is the place were their thoughts bridge institutions of higher education together; where faith is put into action; where the people are met in a space of compassion, creativity and purpose; where the most basic message of Jesus Christ – to love God and our neighbors, is brought to life.
Most of all, this site represents the desire of young people, as well as those who teach and guide them, for all persons to live in joy and love, without lack of food, shelter, health, education, or dignity. While this reality is still quite distant for so many individuals, it is believed to be attainable, should we only be willing to build the bridges we are inspired and compelled to build.
It is our hope that this site be a place where ideas are shared, stories told and inspiration is caught. We encourage all to read the ideas that dwell on this site so that all who believe in work of building bridges and the idea of justice may join in the construction of the Kingdom of God.
